Fascination With Fear and the Path of Light
Fascination With Fear and the Path of Light by Julie
Redstone
One of the more dramatic expressions of a consciousness that can no
longer discern the path of light clearly, is the attraction toward
those live situations and filmed presentations that deliberately
create and amplify fear. 'Thrillers' and 'horror shows' are popular
in America today, and can only remain so if one does not fully
understand what the pursuit of such activities involves.
Embedded in fear-fascination is the blending of the emotion of fear
with the 'high' or 'thrill' of living through it. The latter can
also involve a sense of mastery, pride, or accomplishment for
having withstood the intensity of one's own emotions.
The 'thrill' of fear is a venue for the seduction, manipulation,
and unconscious control by energies that are opposed to the light,
that seek to draw people away from it and from the 'aversive
function' of fear. This function instinctively makes us turn away
from unpleasant or anxiety-producing stimuli toward ones that are
more gentle and loving. As a result of doing the opposite - of
immersing oneself in fear-producing situations - it is possible to
become adapted to fear's presence without knowing it and without
knowing that there is a deliberate seduction involved that does not
have one's best interests at heart.
The 'thrill' of fear is not a positive function of the human
organism. It is a pathway that can lead to greater engagement with
energies of darkness. Many situations of service that involve
courage and risk-taking also involve fear. Yet these, in general,
are not problematic, for those who risk their lives, for example,
on behalf of others, are acting not out of a motive to seek
fear-producing situations, but out of a desire to help and to
protect. This is different than fear-seeking which, even when
'seemingly' harmless, reflects unconsciousness concerning what one
is doing.
A state of fear has a significant effect on both mind and body. It
can produce emotional, glandular, energetic, and even cellular
changes that alter the harmonious functioning of the entire
psycho-physical organism. Anxiety does this even at low levels.
Episodic fear of an intense kind does this by creating a rush of
energies into the body and emotions that must be quickly
assimilated, yet often cannot be. Terror does this by producing an
extreme alteration in the psyche and, as a consequence, a marker
within the body's physiology as well.
When it becomes more widely known that the path toward light is
continually opposed by forces that seek to limit its expansion, and
that one of the primary tools of such forces is fear, it will be
much less likely that human beings will go along with this
intentionality out of a desire for self-protection and in order to
maintain one's own personal freedom. Today, however, the
thrill-seeking of fear is considered by many to be harmless, and so
it is often pursued recklessly and with indifference, especially by
the young, in whom effects are even more pronounced, due to the
malleability of their bodies and psyches.
The dawn of a new consciousness is rapidly approaching that will
change this situation altogether, for it will present a clear
picture of what is happening and the consequences of behavior that
turns away from light toward energies of darkness. In the meantime,
a simple form of self-examination may help to introduce a clearer
sense of one's own motives in seeking the 'thrill' of fear, and a
choice will then become more available regarding whether to
continue in this direction or not.
