(ARA) -
According to the National Center for Educational Statistics,
college enrollments continue to climb, meaning more students will
be heading to college this fall.
With nearly 40 years in the business, Penske Truck Rental offers
these helpful tips to make your move go as smoothly and easily as
possible:
* Truck Selection. Most college students choose the 12- or 16-foot
truck for moving into a college dorm or efficiency apartment.
* Reserve Early. Fall is a peak moving time for students and
families. So, it's a good idea to reserve early. Penske recommends
reserving your truck and any moving accessories at least two weeks
in advance -- a truck is guaranteed with every Penske reservation.
And, save time by making your drop off arrangements when you
reserve your truck.
* Pack Smart. Bring only what you really need. Load the heaviest
items on the truck first. And, to avoid injury, always bend your
knees and lift with your legs, never with your back.
* Use Accessories. Boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap, moving
blankets and hand trucks are all essential moving tools that help
protect your items during your move, making your experience more
enjoyable.
* Safety & Security. Trucks are taller, wider, heavier and
require more stopping distance than the vehicle you are used to
driving. Drive slower and take extra precautions, especially when
the truck is loaded. To ensure a smooth moving day, pick up your
truck a day early. Practice driving it. When traveling, park in
well-lit areas and padlock the rear door. Penske offers 24/7
emergency roadside assistance and optional protection plans.
Finally, with most belongings packed tightly away, create a travel
bag for moving day to keep important paperwork, credit cards,
identification, a change of clothes, drinks and snacks close at
hand. Additional moving tips are available at www.GoPenske.com.
