Creating a news blog is good way to always have a fresh supply of content for your blog.

A lot of people choose to create a news blog as a way to reach a wider audience for their blog. After all, it's usually more interesting to read about what's new in your chosen subject area than it is to read about what you ate last night. Although restaurant critics make a living out of doing just that.

News comes in all shapes and forms.

Often, with the appetite that today's media has for news, it's near enough manufactured to make the news.

Think of all those surveys that get reported on. Which came first? The survey idea? Or the idea for a news story?

Let's not get too cynical but it does sometimes make you wonder why anyone apart from a security company would want to survey people about whether or not teenagers should have a curfew at their local shopping mall.

So how do you start creating a news blog?

First, pick a subject that interests you. You're going to be writing about it often, so you'd better be interested in the subject!

Ideally, pick a couple friends who want to help you write news about your chosen subject. This has the advantage that you can bounce ideas off each other. Later on, it could also help get your news blog displayed in places like Google News.

Keep up to date on the news in your subject area by subscribing to other people's feeds.

Write your own story about the news stories you've read about. Journalists do this all the time. Now it's your turn.

If you decide to go down the route of creating a news blog, remember that you'll need to keep it up to date.

Your subject area will dictate the frequency you need to keep to, at least to an extent.

If your news blog is about your local high school football team then mostly you'll have one entry a week about the main match and then maybe some gossip about the team members.

On the other hand, if you're writing about global warming news then new news breaks every day and you'll need to be more active keeping up with it.
