The University is located in the city called Oxford in England. It
is the oldest university in the UK as the date of commencement of
the University remains unclear. However, it is widely believed that
its roots could be traced to at least 12th century.
The Times newspaper ranked the University as the topmost in the UK
and it is also ranked third in the world by the Times Higher World
University Rankings. The Times Good University Guide puts Oxford in
the first place in the United Kingdom for the past five years.
No doubt, it is a world-class educational institution with lots of
reputation for its excellence. The university holds the most
sophisticated colleges with outstanding facilities. It has
avant-garde research centres which have been producing universally
acceptable findings. Oxford is one of the four universities in the
UK, which belongs to the Coimbra Group. Coimbra Group is nothing
but a network of European Universities which has 37 universities
totally. One of the purposes of the group is to influence the
European educational policy and also to facilitate the mutual
exchange of experiences and resources among them.
Oxford is also one of the valuable members of the League of
European Research Universities which are producing internationally
competitive researches. It is the only university in the UK to be a
member of European group consisting of ten leading European
Universities.

most prestigious international fellowship programme. The trust
facilitates the successful candidates to study for two years at the
University of Oxford. The programme acquired much glamour when it
included the most influential icon of the US, Bill Clinton.
The talents of the students and the staff of Oxford University are
of high degree. Many of its faculty members have been receiving
national and international applause for their unique way of
teaching, scholarship and research. The students also continue to
succeed in various fields including academic.
The University has very good libraries with numerous collections of
books on various subjects. The university is a federation of 39
colleges. One can derive the advantages of Oxford by enjoying the
benefits of an international university and, at the same time,
living in a smaller community. Although the college might be the
place for the academic life of the students, they are also offered
weekly meetings, tutorials and seminars in Oxford frequently.
Though it has been branded that the Oxford University is only for
the elite, they offer accommodation and food at very reasonable
prices. The University also provides an excellent opportunity to
lead a social life with lots of entertainment, sports, arts and
drama.
Thus the Oxford University has proved its worth in all the walks of
life and is considered one of the world’s most famous
universities in the world.
