Safety of Passengers: A Pilots Burden
Safety of Passengers: A Pilot’s Burden by
Attorney Gabriel Cosh
Aircrafts are the first and only way to travel hundreds of
thousands miles in short amounts of time. It has been and still is
the most popular mode of transportation by people who need to
travel long distances and save time. Airplanes don’t have
traffics, road crossings or bad road conditions to deal with. Aside
from bumpy rides due to bad weathers, commute by air is still the
best way to travel with ease.
Hundreds of thousands of flight passengers take off to the sky
yearly. These passengers entrust their lives to the airplane pilots
who operate the aircrafts. Airplane pilots know that it will be a
disaster if he or she commits a mistake while flying their
aircrafts.
A pilot has to have proper training and certification to
competently and safely fly an aircraft. Not all planes can be
operated by just any pilot. There are different training and
certification for different types and sizes of aircrafts.
Although pilots’ trainings are closely monitored and
regulated by the FAA among other regulatory bodies, accidents
sometimes can happen resulting in serious personal injuries and
even death.
In order to avoid or minimize airplane accidents, a pilot must know
that it is inexcusable to drink and fly. There have been cases
where planes crash and blow up in smoke as a result of the
mishandling of the airplane by an intoxicated pilot. A pilot must
also recognize his limitations and abilities to fly a plane.
Operating different planes require different abilities or training.
Handling a small 4 seater plane is different from maneuvering a
large commercial aircraft. If an unskilled pilot operates a big
airplane, the result could be a disastrous airplane accident with
hundreds of seriously injured passengers if not fatalities.
A pilot’s health should also be of importance. An ailing
pilot is not fit to operate or fly a plane because the ability to
take actions or react to situations are greatly diminished. There
have been cases where planes collide with mountains or other
immovable objects due to a pilot’s ill condition.
A pilot must not gamble with the lives of his or her passengers. He
must not take unnecessary risks like braving bad weather. Some of
the reported airplane accidents are caused by bad weather.
Finally, a pilot must always remember to make sure that he or she
and the aircraft that the pilot is going to fly is fight
worthy.
As you can see, there are a lot riding on the competency of the
pilots of aircrafts. This should be so because thousands of lives
are counting on the pilot’s ability to fly and land the
aircraft safely.
If you sustained personal injuries as a result of a pilot’s
negligence, you are definitely entitled to damages for the airplane
accident. You need to seek special personal injury lawyers who are
experts in airplane accidents. With them piloting your airplane
accident claims, you are assured of a smooth landing.
